Privacy Policy
Your privacy is fundamental to everything we do at planwithclarity.app. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data. Our core privacy promise is simple: your financial data never leaves your device without your explicit consent and/or action taken; provided, however, that if you choose to use AI features or otherwise submit Financial Information to us or to third-party service providers integrated into the Site, such submission constitutes your direction to transmit that data for the limited purpose of providing the requested feature.
Our Privacy-First Philosophy

Unlike many financial apps, we do not require account linking of any kind, and we instruct users not to submit bank or brokerage credentials anywhere on the Site.

- account preference and settings;
- Financial Information as defined below;
- technical, connection and/or device information may be collected using Google Analytics 4 (GA4), including the items below; such information is used solely to improve the Site and/or service and is not linked by us to your identity or Financial Information, and is processed pursuant to our data processing terms with Google and Google's privacy policy.

- Does not leave your device or browser;
- Is not transmitted to our servers unless you affirmatively choose to transmit it (for example, by enabling an optional sync or sharing feature or by submitting it to an AI feature);
- Is not viewable by our staff;
- Is not shared with any third parties unless you affirmatively choose to transmit it (for example, by enabling an optional sync or sharing feature or by submitting it to an AI feature).
How We Collect Your Information

If you decide to register for an account with us to access additional resources, services, and goods on our Site, you may be asked to complete a form requesting information such as your name and email address in order to create a user account.
Information Automatically Collected Using Technology
Our Site may use cookies, web beacons, log files, and/or similar technologies to automatically collect information about who you are and how you use our Site. How We Share Your Information
We will NEVER: sell your Personal Information to third parties; use Financial Information for advertising purposes; share your data with data brokers; or use your information to target you with advertisements other than simple promotional emails to our email list (which you can opt out of).
Though we do not sell or disclose the personal information we collect in the ordinary course of our business, we may share your data with third parties in accordance with the purposes described above. Additionally, in the course of business, if we buy or sell business assets or participate in a company sale, merger, reorganization, or dissolution, the data we have collected may be part of such business transfers.
We carefully select third-party providers and vendors who maintain a high level of privacy and security standards, and we enter into data processing agreements with them where required by law. We do not share your Financial Information with third parties without your express consent and/or action. Below is a nonexhaustive list of some of the partners and vendors we use to provide our services and conduct business:
- Google Analytics. Google Analytics is a tool used to discover user demographics and behavior. You can reference Google's privacy policy regarding how they handle information collected by visiting https://policies.google.com/privacy.
- Stripe. Stripe is a payment processor for online businesses. Its policies regarding data collection are outlined here: https://stripe.com/privacy. A DPA is automatically incorporated via Stripe Services Agreement.
- Netlify. Netlify is used to host the Sites, apps and/or services. Its policies regarding data collection are outlined here: https://www.netlify.com/privacy/. A DPA is incorporated by reference in Netlify's terms and conditions.
- Clerk. Clerk is used for authentication. It manages user sign-up, sign-in and session management. Its policies regarding data collection are outlined here: https://clerk.com/legal/privacy. A DPA is automatically incorporated via Clerk Standard Terms.
- Supabase. Supabase is used for a database. It stores account data including email address and subscription status. It does not store your financial planning data. Its policies regarding data collection are outlined here: https://supabase.com/privacy.
- Anthropic.
- planwithclarity.app integrates with Anthropic's Claude API to provide two AI features:
- (a) AI Synopsis: a one-click analysis of your saved retirement plan data (portfolio value, spending assumptions, ages, income sources, Monte Carlo results, expense totals, and scenario assumptions). Before generating a synopsis, you see a data notice describing exactly what numerical plan data will be transmitted, and you must click "Confirm & Generate" to proceed.
- (b) AI Chat: a conversational assistant that answers questions about your retirement plan using the same plan data as context. The assistant is instructed to limit its responses to retirement planning, personal finance, and related topics, and to decline unrelated requests.
- What we transmit to Anthropic: For both features, only the numerical plan data you have entered (portfolio values, ages, expense totals, Monte Carlo results, etc.) plus, for AI Chat, your typed message and recent chat history. We never transmit your name, email address, mailing address, or account credentials to Anthropic. You should never transmit your name, email, address, account credentials or any other sensitive, confidential or private information in the AI Chat function.
- Client-side safeguards: The AI Chat includes a best-effort filter that blocks messages from being sent if they contain recognizable Social Security numbers, phone numbers, email addresses, or street addresses. This filter is not a substitute for user judgment — you should not enter sensitive personal or financial information (account numbers, passwords, medical information, etc.) into the AI Chat. See our Terms of Service for further details.
- Anthropic's data handling: We use the Anthropic Commercial API under Anthropic's Commercial Terms of Service, which incorporates a Data Processing Addendum with Standard Contractual Clauses. Under Anthropic's standard commercial API retention policy, inputs and outputs are retained for no more than 7 days for abuse monitoring purposes, after which they are deleted. Anthropic does not use commercial API data for model training. Anthropic's privacy policy is available at https://www.anthropic.com/legal/privacy.
- Cloudflare. Our infrastructure providers use Cloudflare for bot detection and security. Cloudflare may set cookies to distinguish human visitors from automated traffic. We do not have a direct account with Cloudflare; this service is provided through our authentication provider (Clerk) and/or hosting provider (Netlify).
This list is subject to change at our discretion. If you would like more information about our third-party partners, please visit their specific privacy policy pages that describe their practices.
